Number 50

Today’s comic posted over at A Little Scary marks comic strip number fifty.   This is a huge milestone for me and my pet project.  I never thought I would stay with it as long as this but it’s been fun coming up with new stuff under a constant deadline.  I can also be proud that I haven’t missed that deadline once so far.  Once I started on that twice a week schedule of Mondays and Thursdays I’ve stuck to it.  Granted the times have varied wildly while I was in Hong Kong and then moving here but they are always up some time in the morning.

I need to thank Yoshi from Hello! Yoshi for giving me the idea for today’s comic.  I never would have thought of that if it hadn’t been suggested by him.  Ever. Never-ever.  Thanks Yoshi.

Now if I can just make it to the 100 mark I’ll be all set.  Eventually, I’d like to go to a three days a week update schedule as well but I’ll need more time to dedicate to that to ever achieve it.  And with a baby on the way, I just don’t see that happening any time soon.

Contest Alert

Yoshi over at Hello! Yoshi is having a contest this week which you should definitely check out.  He’s been planning a contest for the Blogathon ever since the last Blogathon, but they have decided to cancel it this year.  So what is Yoshi to do with his fabulous prizes that he bought for this event?  He has two brand new MP3 players just itching to be given away.  That’s the reason for the seemingly random contest.

The rules are simple and you only have till this coming Sunday to enter.  So hurry up and head over to enter the contest today!

Probably a bad thing

I… I am weak.  I’ve reactivated my World of Warcraft account.  After almost a year of not playing, I finally got drawn back in.  Well, Yoshi had a lot to do with that.  He’s evil like that.  He’s such an enabler.  And now I’m trying to get Muse to re-activate her account.  *sigh*

I know I make it sound bad but its really not.  It’s just what seems to be expected when someone admits that they are getting back into an online game that they used to play.  I don’t see it as a weakness or an evil in the least.  It’s just a game.  It can be a bit addictive at times and it certainly is a time sink, but it’s really no worse than spending hours playing “casual” games from PopCap or Reflexive.  I would just as easily spend 3 hours playing Peggle as I would Warcraft.

Anyway, if you are playing WoW and are on the Lothar server, leave a comment with your character name and I’ll see if I can find you.  However, if you play one of those evil, under-handed Alliance then I may have to try and hurt you.  Fair warning.

Learning new skills

With the launch of A Little Scary came new artistic needs and an exasperated Yoshi got tired of telling me I needed to learn Adobe Illustrator.  So I finally broke down and listened to him and I’ve been working with it for a few weeks now.  I have to admit that it’s not as bad as I thought it would be and I’m learning quite a bit.  Now Muse just wishes I’d stop making stupid little graphics that a kindergartner could draw with a box of crayons and asking her to look-y look-y on a constant basis.  No I will not grow up, thank-you-very-much.

funky cybrpunk.com logoSo here’s a new logo I came up with while talking to Yoshi about his new design.  I did this completely in Illustrator and although it looks pretty good, I still had to fight with it to do some things and have no idea why other things happened.  I guess as long as the end result looks OK, who cares about the rest of it.

As you can see it’s a bit funky and retro and I have no idea why this idea came to me.  It’s just one of those rare bouts of inspiration that I actually took the time to act on.   It’s not too fancy and I wanted to add more to it, but Muse kept telling me that “less is more” and I think she just really wanted me to stop showing her every little thing I changed.

So maybe I’ll figure out a way to integrate that with the theme somehow.  Or maybe not.  I suppose I should be working on a logo for the web comic.  That would have made more sense.  Any ideas for that?

Well, that was fun

In an annoyingly painful and forehead-smackingly kind of way.

So the old cybrpunk.com WP site had to tossed into the air by the King of the Cosmos and blasted with his eye lasers because it had become a large ball of crap.  All because of my crack-addled upgrade attempt.  Thanks King.  You’re groovy.

So here we are again with the basic install.  No fun stuff.  No special themes or fancy archives.  I get to start all over again.  Again.

Thanks to Yoshi for his suggestions and name-calling, hehe.

Here I go again.
