Dragon Boat Races

Today is another obscure public holiday here in Hong Kong.  Everyone gets off work for the Dragon Boat races.  I have no idea why this is but I’m sure there’s some ancient cultural significance to it all.  Or its just because there are 8 billion dragon boat teams and no one would show up to work anyway.  Whatever.

We bought our first baby toy today and it was actually for a baby.  Our baby.  And not for me.  I will never grow up. :-p

What was the toy? Was it the clasic tower of rings?

the festival is for a poet that committed suicide in a river LONG LONG TIME AGO in ancient china. The ppl got into their boat and went to the river, then they throw food into the water to prevent the fish-ies from eating his body.

Hah I’m not a good storyteller but that’s the gist of the celebration.

The best part of it is the sticky rice dumplings that is part of the dragon boat festival.

They make those? Toys for actual children? Weird. That’s why my wife and I will never have kids…I don’t share well.

Best toys are the things in the back of your cupboards or the box that the ‘toy’ came in. Expensive or educational toys just don’t work as well. I should know, we have a cupboard full of them.
