Happy Birthday Buddha

It’s Monday and I’m sitting at home still un-showered and working on comics.  Today is a public holiday here in Hong Kong.  It’s Buddha’s birthday!  Who am I to argue?  Sadly though, public holidays are a double-edged sword.  Sure you get the day off, but unless you feel like pushing through crowds of people everywhere you go, you pretty much just sit at home all day. Like I’m doing.

We say Iron Man on Saturday afternoon and it was awesome.  I’m a bit of a fanboy when it comes to comic book to movie adaptations and I know many of them aren’t that great.  Iron Man definitely lived up to the hype in my opinion though.

After the movie, Muse and I split up and went with our friends to different places.  Me and my friend went to Sham Shui Po to go to the computer and game malls to look for a Sony PSP for me.  I thought about getting a second hand system but decided it was too much risk for too little discount.  So I went for a new one.  Unfortunately all the cool colors of the new ‘slim’ PSP are all twice the price (or more) of the standard black, white or pastel colors.  So I found a shop that still sold the ‘fat’ versions.  They had a few of the limited Japanese releases so I went for one of those.  Just to make Colin jealous if nothing else.

My blue PSP

Oh yeah, that is a metallic blue Sony PSP.  Only released in Japan but everything ends up in Hong Kong eventually.  Sometimes I love shopping here in Hong Kong.

Wow, that’s really blue. I didn’t realize it was so light blue…

So I’m guessing that it already comes with the homebrew firmware right? so you can play CSO files?

It’s not quite as light blue as that pic. The sun was shining on the metallic finish where I took the pic so it looks a little lighter.

Any shop here will modify your PSP for you for a very small charge however, I have a friend who bought the materials for it so I had him do it. For homebrew applications only of course.

    Mission accomplished!

I am incredibly jealous right now! I want a blue PSP now!!! Just like the one you have!!!! I don’t care if it’s fat or not! AAAaaaaaargh! Stupid SONY won’t sell any other colours here!

What games did you buy for it?

I knew Colin would be jealous! I can buy one and ship it to you, now that I know where to find them. I could even have it modified before sending it. Of course it will cost you!

I haven’t bought any games for it. However, I’ve been playing LocoRoco and Patapon and I tried out God of War. See my previous comment.

I can’t afford to buy another one right now but if I could I would.

I have played LocoRoco so much that I have all the songs stuck in my head. By the way, do they mean anything? I have neglected Patapon a bit but that’s mostly because I don’t have the time to play much on the PSP so whatever game is inside, that’s what I’ll play and so I keep playing LocoRoco. :)

I tried playing Gof of War in Hard mode and I couldn’t get through the first monster. It’s incredibly hard. I finished it in Easy mode a while back though.

I don’t remember how much I paid now. My remembory doesn’t work that well anymore. I want to say it was around 1,600 HKD for the PSP and another 450 HKD for the 4GB mem card (which is expensive now).

PSP games are around 200 HKD for new games I think. Older games I’ve seen for around 150.
