Still daylight

I got home today and it was still daylight.  Well, OK not a whole lot of daylight but a little.  And it was closer to 6:30pm than 8:30pm which is a huge improvement.

So yeah that means that I got to leave a bit early today.  Around 4:00pm.  So why did I get back so late?  Oh.  Well I kinda stopped at the Wan Chai Computer Centre on the way back to look for a new MP3 player for Muse.  And at printers.  And there was a new video game store that needed to be browsed.  Along with the previous two.  Because they hadn’t been browsed by me for a long time.  So it was kinda mandatory I think.

Unfortunately the MP3 player selection was at an all time low today.  Unless you want an ipod or a cheap knock-off that looks like an ipod, you’re pretty much out of luck.  There were some others but they’re mostly the same cheap pieces of crap that were only sort of novel two years ago when I first saw these shops.  Inventory doesn’t revolve much in many Hong Kong shops.  They’ll hold on to something till it crumbles from age and rarely do the prices fall.  Even with video games, you’ll see a game that came out four years ago that is still stickered with the same price as games that just came out last week.  Not because they will sell at that price.  But because the shop owners seem to refuse to acknowledge the encroaching avalanche of old merchandise just waiting for a stiff breeze to set it tumbling down.

I wish I were exaggerating.
