Drawings by Vince #3
It’s Friday, so it’s time for the weekly installment of Drawings by Vince! (applause, the crowd goes wild)
In case you don’t know the drill, here’s how this works. You (the reader) post things that you would like to have drawn in the comments of this post. I pick three ideas and work on them throughout the week. Then on the next Friday I post what I’ve done, no matter if they are finished or not. Easy, no? No.
So here are the drawings for this week:
This first drawing is a combination of two suggestions made by my lovely wife. She asked for quite a few things, but the ones I were most intrigued with were “a unicorn playing guitar” and “And a baby seal. I like baby seals.” So here you are, the only known picture of a rocking unicorn playing to an audience of baby seals. Notice that the unicorn must be playing one hell of a solo because the baby seals have their lighters out.
The second drawing was a difficult suggestion by Jason from Roth Family Adventures. He asked for a drawing of a character from one of my short stories. Well, I’m not very good at drawing people so I figured a monster would be a better choice. So here’s a concept drawing of one of the black creatures from my story The Magician. It’s hard to draw something black on black, so you just have to imagine that it’s all dark. I added some extra darkness with Photoshop. Because I can. Whatever.
The third picture was a suggestion from Shannon from Shannon River. She wanted a picture of a ferret. Preferaby with either a tuxedo or a chainsaw. I’m sure you could guess which one I went with. I haven’t seen the commercial she was talking about, so I came up with my own way of doing it. No mask though… you have to have the crazy ferret face.
So there you have the three new pictures for the week. Be sure to let me know what you think of these and don’t forget to make some new suggestions in the comments. Also, since next Friday is the end of the week, that will be the last time I take suggestions for this month. The results will be posted on Friday October 5th and then I’m taking a break from the crazy self-imposed drawing schedule. So make your suggestions this week and if yours doesn’t get picked, try again on September 28th for the final episode of the ’season’.
And now, over to you.
EDIT: Need more comments! Come on, don’t be shy!

Unicorns are bitchin’ rock stars. Just ask the baby seals!
Your drawing is great, the baby seals are my favorite mostly just because I like baby seals and my interest in unicorns has been waning since about 1980. But it is quite funny ironic to see a unicorn playing guitar.
Great job! I like this game!
Another excellent installment.
How about a still life of vegetables who support Barack Obama? (And I’m talking corn, artichokes, and peas, so don’t get all offensive, Sporty.)
Still no self portrait….
Very good. I especially like the Unicorn playing the guitar. Nice add with the seals holding lighters on their noses. Great job on the monster and ferret too.
Now for another idea….how about a picture of cockroach singing karaoke while standing on the rim of a martini glass?
They’re balancing the lighters on their noses! Priceless!
Once again, completely awesome. I’d seriously put a framed print of that unicorn up on my wall.
How about a picture of a left handed gecko on a unicycle.
Thanks for the feedback. The unicorn picture is my wife’s but if there’s any interest, I may be persuaded to post some pics to deviantart.com where prints could be ordered if desired. Wow, that sounds really coming weird from me.
The requests are getting much more specific. How the hell do you show whether a gecko is left or right handed? I suppose it would be juggling with it’s left hand but it could just be ambidextrous….
Requesting a drawing of a view or something that catches your eye that you see everyday on your way to and from work in Hong Kong…like the IFC walkway, a building of choice, a storefront, or whatever since it catches your eye.
If you think this is too hard, just be warned that I will keep requesting this until you draw something…you know how relentless I can be :)
Wow! I’m impressed!!!!! First I LOLed at the image, and then I went bigger and I’m truly impressed. Ferrets can be challenging to draw sometimes. You’re really talented! The other drawings are the bees knees too.
Here’s a link to the You Tube video.

(if that doesn’t work I put this in Google: You Tube mountain dew commercial ferret)
I’m sort of torn on this commercial. First it cracks me up, but then it also saddens me a little bit because ferrets get a bum rap about their reputation. And this commercial kinda contributes to that.
Ok ok… I think I have one… How about a raccoon in a wide angle lens, close up.

This is because I happened to watch a South Park episode last night that featured these kinds of animal photos.
I know, I know, I’m sorry. I’m a huge animal lover. But at least the distortion should give you some challenge!
Shannon, the link to the raccoon doesn’t seem to work.
Thanks to everyone who commented. I was hoping for some new names too, but I’ll take having a few loyal commenter’s.
Well, I could lower my voice and pretend to be Trucker Big Willy.
How about some bouncing ta-ta’s swimming in mayo with a side of pickle. Or a middle of pickle, ifyouknowwhatImean. And my Sweet Cherry freightliner in the background.
And I’m talkin’ EEE’s, kid. More bounce for the ounce. Oh yeahhhhh. Yeaaaaah….
I have the unicorn pick hanging in my cube at work now.
