Thailand

If you read my wife’s blog then you probably already saw this but there were changes to our Honeymoon/First Anniversary/Vacation trip that we were planning. Maldives, as beautiful as it seems, is just too pricey and too much of a pain in the ass to get to. The remoteness of it that is so appealing also makes it a 2 day trip to get there and back because of the lack of transportation. In other words, if you spend five days there, you are actually only getting two and a half nights at the resort of your choosing. I say a half a night because you have to go to bed early on the third night so you can get up at 1:00am to leave. Or something like that. I don’t have all the details, because the more we found out about this the more aggravated and disappointed we got and that’s the last thing we want associated with this trip.

Luckily though, the beer wench was watching TV and saw an ad for a place called The Paradise Koh Yao on a small island in Thailand. She ran to check it on the Internet (must have been one hell of an ad) and told me about it. I was pooping at the time so I heard about it afterwards. Anyway, we checked the place out online and checked the prices for flights round trip for Phuket, Thailand and we were sold.

We have reserved a Pool Villa on the beach at the resort that has it’s own private pool and direct beach access. And we’ll be there for six nights. Six! I don’t even care about beaches too much (more of a mountains kind of person myself) but even I’m psyched about this. Even with airfare and seaplane transfer to the island (freaking seaplane like in the movies!!!) and everything, this ends up being at least half the price of the package offers to Maldives. And we get there the same day we leave because Thailand is only about three or four hours from Hong Kong.

We are both very excited about this trip and the only thing bringing us down is that we have to wait till the end of July to go.

You are such a romantic and quite the storyteller. This is obvious based on the mention of “you were pooping at the time…”

I think it’s important to know that you were pooping when she found your vacation spot.

Unrelated: the new tech writer has the same name as your wife does now (assuming she changed her last name).
